It took us a while, but we finally made pancakes (with fleur d'oranger inside which was soooo nice) and waffles. I also heated up some frozen berries and my brother decorated the table with flowers.

Mother's Day Brunch...
Last Sunday was Mother's day here in France and my brother and I decided to make a breakfast/brunch for my mom.
It took us a while, but we finally made pancakes (with fleur d'oranger inside which was soooo nice) and waffles. I also heated up some frozen berries and my brother decorated the table with flowers.

Spring Is Here
Finally the flowers are starting to come after weeks of rain here in France.
I'm back now from my au pair job, and I'm so happy to be back.
There's no place like home!

Macro Photos...without the macro lens.
Hello hello,
I was a bit bored today and was playing around with my camera when I remembered reading about a technique to take close-up shots without having a macro lens.
I tried it and I was quite happy with the result, and it was fun!
So the method is to take off the lens and turn it around. You have to hold the lens against the camera as it doesn't click on backwards. And voila! shoot away and play around to see different methods.
I find these pictures look very arty. I don't think you'd get good close-up pictures of insects and that but it's fun being able to get closer :)
Since the lens isn't attached, the camera doesn't allow me to change the aperture which is constantly on 00. This is why the pictures are quite blurry, but I find it gives a lovely dreamy look to them.
Here are some pictures of how close I can normally get with the lens put on correctly on the camera:
As you can see, my prime 50mm lens doesn't allow me to get too close. With a zoom lens, you could get much closer I am sure.
The only problem with this method is that it can let in a lot of dust on the sensor. I was a bit worried about that at first but then I just did it and I don't see too much dust on it.
Well there you go! I learn something new every day :) I'm definitely going to take more in the next days.
Have a nice weekend everyone!

Ho Ho Ho! Late Merry Christmas!
Hello!!
It's been SUCH a long time since I've written, or even been, on my blog!
Well...I have an explanation for this. You see, a few weeks ago, my lovely acer laptop decided to simply die on me.
So I was left computerless for a while! But for christmas my sweet brother and my parents decided to give me my brother's old toshiba computer (that still works wonderfully well) that needed a few new parts (battery, plug and keyboard).
So here I am again!! And -since it's too late to wish everyone merry christmas- I hope everyone had a great christmas :)
Today I decided to take a few pictures of one or two of my new presents (and you'll understand why I'm taking EVERYTHING in picture).
And THIS is why I've been taking photos non-stop everyday! Here is my new canon ef 50mm 1.8 !! He is small, light and just wonderful!
I'm sooo happy with my new lens. It's so sharp. So much sharper than my other one.
I thought that the problem with my other lens was the fact that I wasn't doing a good job with manual so I started taking everything in automatic and yet, the photos were still blurry-ish. (Look at my last post to understand what I mean).
And now today I'm learning the system of manual and it works! proof: these pictures were taken manually. :)
By the way, I use to have the photoshop 7 but now I got the photoshop CS6 and it's so much better! I can even open RAW files now :P
My laptop has got one problem I've got to fix: it stretches everything: photos, etc. So I hope these pictures aren't too big or stretched or whatever! I have the impression that they are a bit big :P
What I also find strange is that all the icons I had on the right of my blog and the "next page" at the bottom don't appear on my screen...mysterious...
I hope you all have a lovely evening/day and I'll be posting again soon, oh yes I will! :D
Here are some more pictures (just because it's christmas :P ):
Have a great day!
p.s. merry christmas to JipetSun! Hope to see some new posts on your blog too :)

Simple Pictures (5)
Hi everyone! It's been a while that I haven't been on my blog. I just had no time with revisions, exams, etc... But a really nice girl I met not long ago, lent me her Sony Alpha 230, so here are the photos I took with them:
I noticed that this camera is very good for taking portraits and close-up pictures. I still think that the Canon EOS's are slightly better in image quality, especially in low light.
You can compare yourself, a few weeks ago I tried the canon eos 600d: Simple Pictures (4)
and I think the pictures are slightly better.
Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of summer and I'll try to post more pictures!

What I read...
Hello again! Today's post is about books. Summer is nearly here, so what should we read? Well, being quite a reader, I decided to show you four of my favourite books. Who knows, you might want to read one of them? Anyways, I hope you enjoy!
Rebonjour!
And if you enjoy the baudelaire's stories as much as I do, you might like the twelve sequels!
Et si vous aimez les orphelins baudelaire autant que moi, peut être aimeriez vous les 12 suivantes!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday (3)
We're Sunday again! (this post was supposed to be published yesterday, oups!)
I had time this week to take my time and think of what pictures I will take for Scavenger Hunt Sunday, and even though the themes were tough this week, it was so much fun to use my creativity and imagination!
So here are my interpretations for Scavenger Hunt Sunday:
Nous sommes Dimanche déjà! (cet article aurait du être publié hier, oups!)
J'ai eu du temps cette semaine pour réfléchir sur les photos que j'allais prendre pour ce scavenger hunt sunday, et même si les thèmes me paraissent un peu difficiles cette semaine, cela m'a permis d'utiliser ma créativité et mon imagination!
Donc voici mes interprétations pour Scavenger Hunt Sunday:
1.Beneath your feet
Worst moment of the week: weighing myself ;D ...
2. Capturing movement
Moving shells: making beautiful movements with beautiful sounds...
3. Texture
Cuddly, fluffy blankets: my favourite!
4. Face your fears
My fear: lack of chocolate! ;) he's my best friend, and my worst enemy...
5. Currently
Currently reading this book for the third time!
So I hope you liked my pictures and I thank you for taking the time to look at them!
Can't wait to see the interpretations of my fellow hunters!
p.s. please become my follower, it will make my day! :D
